Press release

11 Aug 2026, Macedon Ranges, Victoria

Kyneton Ridge Estate are pleased to present their Spring 2026 releases, including new wines from their plantings on the home block. Since being certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia in 2025 and adding to the original vines over the past four years, the Woods have looked forward to the release of their estate grown Riesling and Reserve Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The Vineyard

Planted in 1997, Kyneton Ridge Estate sits at 550 m altitude, on volcanic soils of Pyalong granite, weathered to granitic sandy soils over felspar clay loams. The site is on the border between cold alpine and maritime influences from the south, moderated by the warmer continental influence from the north.

When Angela and Andrew Wood purchased the estate in 2019, the family adopted regenerative farming, sustainable and organic principles. In 2025, it became the first vineyard certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia in the Macedon Ranges wine region.

Winemaking

Since 2022, winemaking team, Patrick Wood and Greta Darling-Filby have steered the regenerative agriculture project in the vineyard, converting the formally conventional vineyard to sustainable and organic principles. They’ve focused on improving soil microbiology with zero-till and adopting Simonit & Sirch pruning methods to improve vine health, yields, purity and intensity.

In the winery, they display pure expression of site, region, and vintage with small batch, low intervention, open fermenters, judicious use of oak. Patrick and Greta have quickly attracted accolades, among the Finalists in Young Gun of Wine Awards 2026.

Vintage Release

2025 was a warmer vintage, starting with some winter rain, a mild spring with good fruit set, before a dry summer. At Kyneton Ridge, the vines benefited from the sustainable regime, with good yields, aromatics, and phenolic ripeness despite an earlier Feb/Mar harvest. Wine release:

KYNETON RIDGE RIESLING 2025 RRP $35 – estate grown on granitic sand, picked 30 Mar, 6-mth FR oak

KYNETON RIDGE VERMENTINO 2025 RRP $35 – from Metcalfe on granitic/alluvial, picked 15 Mar, 3-mth FR oak

KYNETON RIDGE CHARDONNAY RESERVE 2025 RRP $50 – estate grown on granitic sand, picked 15 May, 15-mth FR oak (20% new)

KYNETON RIDGE ‘SKIPPING RABBIT’ PINOT NOIR 2025 RRP $38 – estate grown on granitic sand, picked 10 & 15 Mar, 8-mth FR oak

2024 was a return to classic conditions in La Niña year with well-timed rain, warmth, and sunshine. Below average winter/spring rainfall, before summer rains, ending in a warm Feb/Mar to finish off the season with lower-than-average yields. Wine release:

KYNETON RIDGE PINOT NOIR RESERVE 2024 RRP $50 – estate grown on Granitic sand, picked 20 Mar, 12-mth FR oak (25% new)
